It was a CD by The Stone Coyotes titled Born To Howl. A HUGE fan was born and I haven't been the same since.

Barbara Keith is the front-woman of this band; singer, guitarist, songwriter extraordinaire. She's been at this for a while and has a long, distinguished career under her belt as a songwriter alone. Her husband Doug, the drummer also has an enviable career as a television scriptwriter, as well as being a noteworthy contemporary artist (see their album covers and show posters). Their son John is the bassist and grew up with those two as his parents. Enough said there, imagine the influence of the atmosphere that must have abounded in that humble home.

Though they have every reason to not be, they truly are some humble folks. That humility shines through in their art from conception to performance. We could say that Barbara Keith is Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Nancy Wilson, Stevie Nicks, Tom Scholz, or we could sit around all day, pulling names out of the air of musicians that come to mind as we listen, but not one alone or any combination would tell the whole story of the essence of Barbara and her boys. Barbara's story-telling songwriting brought to life in the band's cleanly rough, pared-down, garage band sounding rawness is a recipe for some seriously great American music.

Texas loves the Stone Coyotes who are originally from New England. The "feel the love" vibe experienced by them down here from radio and live audiences was so great, that they decided to transplant from western Massachusetts to Houston. They have found surprisingly special favor in Texas from our bikers — surprising to them, not to us. We know quality when we see and hear it, and the Stone Coyotes are the "musification" of quality.

They are kicking off a fall tour of Texas venues by headlining the Jack Daniels stage at the Lone Star Rally in Galveston on Friday, September 24 at 9:00 p.m. Bikers from all over will get to hear some great real music from the "First Lady of Rock" for every "American Child" out there. For a truly unique rocking experience, be sure to stop by and give them a howl. And when you get home, visit www.stonecoyotes.com for more tour information and to buy their CD's for your own great music collection.

by Amy Edgerly A couple of years ago, my very cool biker friend Ken came to my annual crawfish boil party with the coolest hostess gift that I've ever received.
