The Biker Photo Yearbook: 2001–2007

Take a ride through the faces and friendships of 2001–2007. Our first Biker Photo Yearbook gathers 91 photographs from rallies, road trips and roadside gatherings, arranged by year with the date taken and source article. You might spot yourself, an old riding buddy or a memory worth another look.

Good roads. Good company. Stories worth keeping.

Motorcycling has always been about more than getting somewhere. It’s the backroad you take, the people you meet, and the stop that turns into an afternoon.

MOTRA brings those experiences together, drawing on original material from BikerTrash, Lone Star Biker, Motorcycles On The Road Again, and Galveston Weekends. The archive is our starting point. Useful, entertaining information for your next ride is where we’re headed.

Find your kind of riding

We’re organizing the collection around what interests riders:

The ride and the destination

BackRoads — Curves, scenery, routes, and the pleasure of taking the long way.

Places — Towns, landmarks, museums, and discoveries worth riding to.

Hang Outs — The cafés, bars, and gathering spots where riders feel at home.

The gatherings

Rallies — The rides, crowds, traditions, and memories that bring motorcyclists together.

Events — Rides, shows, benefits, and other reasons to get together. As this section grows, upcoming events will help you decide where to go next.

The people and their stories

People — Riders, builders, characters, and the clubs and communities they create.

Stories — Firsthand experiences, motorcycle history, and tales worth another telling.

From the archives: The Great Ride Around Texas

More than 3,100 miles around the perimeter of Texas, seen from the seat of a motorcycle. Our staff and guest riders set out to discover just how big—and how varied—the Lone Star State really is.

Originally published in Motorcycles On The Road Again, October 2005. The feature and its day-by-day photo albums are being prepared for this archive.

Explore: turn a story into a ride

Read about a place and sooner or later you start wondering: What would it be like to ride there?

That’s the idea behind Explore, the next chapter of MOTRA. We’re developing regional resources that bring BackRoads, Places, Hang Outs, Rallies, and Events together—connecting the history of a place with the experience of riding it today.

Local riders and motorcycle tour operators can bring firsthand knowledge to that picture: roads they ride, stops they know, and practical details that make a trip better.

Plan the miles ahead

Where should you ride? When should you go? What’s worth stopping for along the way? As Explore develops, we’ll add current information to help you turn inspiration into a ride of your own.

Until then, spend some time with the stories. You may find an old memory—or the beginning of your next trip.
