ASK TRIX
Hello Trix
I been a biker in the past, and now i,m thinking about getting
back into it. I,m interesting in the Harley Davidson model FXD
Dyna Glide . I went to my local dealer by me. He gave me a price
of $13,500.00
plus $500.00 for shipping and putting it together.Plus tax. I
ask him What would it cost me to drive this out of the show room.
He stated $15,155.00.
I asked for a catalog and when I got home I went through it and
back of the
book, the prices of all the bikes were blanked out. I then went
on to the
internet and lookup Harley Davidson web site and gotten the price
of
the bike and found out to be $11,890.00 not $ 13,500.00 . I would
like to know
if Bike Dealers can do that , by getting there own price. I don,t
understand
if Harley Davidson makes the price for there product why are the
dealer
making up their own prices.I feel I’m getting ripped off. Please
give me some feed
back. ………Thanks alot……….Joe
Hey Joe!
Remember the “S” in MSRP stands for SUGGESTED. Dealers are free to charge you whatever makes them feel good but you are free to go elsewhere and make yourself feel even better! The “R” in MSRP stands for Retail but some dealers seem to think it stands for “Rip-off”.
But here is the good news…you can get a better deal.
Remember also, that many times the dealer may have added accessories
that
increase the cost of the bike even though you, the purchaser”
may not want
those “extras” added. It may take some searching on
the net and some phone
calls, but with perseverance you can find dealers that sell at
MSRP. Matter
of fact you can find links to some in the Houston area on this
web site.
It all comes back to “Supply and Demand.” The supply
is getting better,
remember a few years ago you had to be on a waiting list for a
year to get a
new Harley. And of course, you can also try an “off”
brand. I have friends
who rave about their “N’arleys”! It just a matter of
what you are truly
looking for. Good Luck and Welcome Back!

“Trix, you are soooo smart. You just know everything about life!” This was what my sister told me after I told her it was time for her louse of a 6th husband to hit the asphalt.
“Trixie! Why you were so RIGHT about your advise about that man I was dating!”
Even men agree. “Baby, I should have listened to you! I could have gotten twice what I sold for!!” they lament after ignoring my counsel.
I tell them. I try to help. And when they listen, they are rewarded. When they don’t, they cry about it later!
