Bikers Against Child Abuse (B.A.C.A.)

On Sunday, May 20, I had the privilege of attending a Houston meeting of members of BACA. This organization of bikers exists to provide support for children who have been identified by the authorities as being abused.

The BACA reason for existence is very simple: “because no child should have to live in fear.”

“We are first and foremost for the children. We will be as hardcore as we need to be for the children. Our mission is one of support for the children, but we will not shy away from confrontations from anyone who has a mind to harm them or their families. We are not a vigilante group- we do not search out and hunt down perpetrators. We do not actively pursue those who are under suspicion of hurting children. Any referral that comes to BACA has to already be in the “system” before we can respond. There has to already have been a police report filed, and an interview with the child at the appropriate agency before we will become involved. We don’t respond to wild goose chases, or red herrings. We always act within the parameters of the law. We are not outlaws. But, if someone has a mind to hurt a child, we will be there if we know about it and we will do whatever is necessary to become an obstacle to the child being hurt or abused.”

BACA Houston meets at the 3 Brothers Restaurant, 12601 Westheimer – just West of Dairy Ashford. For info about the Houston group you can Email the President, Wheeler.

3 Brothers Soul fool/Creole Restaurant is open for lunch and dinner everyday, and for breakfast on Saturdays. The daily lunch specials are very reasonable and the food is delicious!

From Catfish to Barbecue ribs, from cornbread to candied yams, I have never been disappointed in anything I have had there – and I go there a lot!
