Hitchin’ a ride with my good friend Gypsy (writer and photographer for Thunder Press)we headed for Easyriders Bike Show 2001 Tour.

We arrived real early so Gypsy, known for his wide assortment of jewelry, stickers, T-shirts and biker goodies, could set up his vendor booth.

As I watched vendors arrive and set up their different items for sale I realized how much work and effort it takes in putting one of these shows together – registering bikes, snapping photos and getting everyone parked at their designated area – it takes a lot of patience and teamwork to pull it off.

Clean Dean, Editor and Chief of Biker Magazine with Kim Peterson, Editor and Chief of In-The-Wind Magazine put miles upon the souls of their boots just walking around and checking everything, answering scores of questions and double-checking hundreds of details.

Squeezing out a group bear hug Dean, Kim and I caught up on our roadside adventures.

Smiling, big Dean inquired if all my journalistic needs were being met. Laughing together, Kim and I made a date to go sluttin’ together once the event got on its way.

With all the colorful, beautiful scoots it didn’t take long to use up my first roll of film.

Directly across from Gypsy’s booth a cute little dark haired girl stood beside her daddy as she helped him polish down his blue and yellow Harley Davidson. I tried not to be noticed so I could get an unposed, candid shot. The little darling turned around and gave me away. Standing next to her daddy, little three-year-old Danny (mom and dad’s nick name for their angel) smiled prettily the camera – what a cutie!

Mom and Dad will surely have their hands full by the time she hits those “teen” years.

Sitting outside having a smoke was Ed Machado, Sales Manager for Samson Motorcycle Products, Inc. Lighting my cancer stick while sharing jokes we became fast friends. Giving me a bit of Samson’s history for their widely known motorcycle pipes. Big Gun Systems and Rolled Thunder mufflers are their fastest growing products. After making a move to Anaheim, CA Samson’s new plant is four times the size as the old providing Samson’s more room for manufacturing, engineering, design and quality control. During the past eight years Samson’s have grown to be the largest manufacture of after market exhaust systems for Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Ed and I would have many smoke breaks together sharing some of our wildest adventures as we sucked down cigarettes.

Catching up with Kim behind the Easyriders registration desk we decided to cut out for a little break. Poppin open a cold one, feet resting on top of the ol’ living room coffee table, I learned a bit more about the Easyriders publications who list me as contributing pervert in their rag. Hey how’d they know?

We finished our break and headed back to the event. Bikers, clubbers, women, men, and kids, young and old, filled Easyriders Bike Show event. The parking lot was bustin’ full of scoots. Clean Dean reported close to seven thousand people came to Easyriders bike show. With the amount of bodies I had the joy of rubbing parts with as I weaved in and out of the living, breathing river of people – I believe the numbers – I really do.

Nightshift, the band (Michael Farrel NIGHTSHIFT 714-633-3564) that kept us all happy testing our ear drums with rock n’ roll music all during the day, were fantastic. A tall, pale skinny guy singing his heart out to us danced at the end of the runway caught my attention. He seemed to have tightly wound springs on the underside of his shoes as he entertained us. If a band has the talent that can make me get up and dance, then they’re doing something right. Nightshift is one of those bands got me to a wigglin’ and a rollin’ all day long.

The Roadware Fashion Show was next on the list of happenings. A young, handsome, sexy guy, way too much man for one woman to enjoy, strutted his tight firm body.

Two youthful beautiful women one on each side of his arm accompanied him down the runway as they strolled their way into our wallets and fancies. If only I had a Sugar Daddy…… Damn, I’d put him in the poor house for sure cause I’d of spent all his hard-earned cash into building myself a new leather wardrobe.

As I continuously made my rounds, it was hard to see everything with such a large variety of vendor ware’s, T-shirts, stickers, jewelry, motorcycle parts, new scoots, rebuilt scoots, club support booths – just more to see than the mind could absorb.

I spent some 13 hours at this event and I still missed some stuff!

Calendar Girl Contest was not to be missed let me tell ya! Normal chicks just like you and me (yeah that’s right, normal LIKE ME…watch it now) recruited from the crowd volunteered to model Easyriders one piece black silky bathing suits.

The crowd of hot, excited bikers picked out the one and only winner Miss Easyriders Bike Show 2001 Tour Pomona, California judged them.

Damn here I am all crouched down on the floor center stage, fighting for photo shots sandwiched in-between a bunch of drooling bikers capturing their own little Kodak moment. Geez, you’d think they’ve never seen babes before.

Among all the other leather wear booths I spied one that took top pick in my eyes, HA Leather and Crime, Inc.clothing. HA Leather, Inc. display of fine leather goods, which included – vests, shirts, jackets and chaps caught my eye immediately. Looking over several pieces carefully, I could not find one with any defects, flaws, dye discoloration, poor manufacturing, poor sewing or cheap leather material! All of the items were top quality constructed, so well sewn together guranteeing ya’ not to fall apart in the future down the road. All merchandise comes with a life time warranty!

Where, Oh where is that Sugar Daddy I need so bad? Once again all attention focused around the stage. Staking my terrory out claiming all rights for my SPOT, Branscombe Richmond and the Renegade Posse took the spot light. Sweating as if it was 102 degrees, his face pale white as bed sheet (found out later he was suffering from the flu) Branscombe gave the performance of his life.

Children ran up to the runway as Branscombe poured his heart out singing with all his soul while throwing out a joke or two in-between lyrics. It was truly amazing how these children of all ages stood together as they gazed upwards at their hero.

Tossing Indian T-shirts out to the crowd as freebie’s flew above our heads people leaped for them in a mad scramble, arms became entangled and laughter filled the room as Branscombe continued to entertain us during the night.

Colorful strands of love beads hung from Branscombe’s gentle hand. Children and young women threw their arms up towards him hoping he’d give them some of those beads.

I have seen Branscombe and the Renegade Posse perform many times. My first time in 1997, Las Vegas, Nevada Stardust Casino. I locking my seat in his last performance for Vegas, hair’s breath from center stage, VIP section.

Knowing most entertainers book hotel arrangements within the casino during a show, I got an idea – picking up a white courtesy phone I rang the hotel operator. Getting Branscombe’s direct room fax number surprising the crap out of me at how simple it was to get!

I founded B.B.F.H. a nonprofit charity biker organization in Vegas. First charity poker run was happen two days from that night. Would he really ride for B.B.F.H.? Faxing B.B.F.H. information over to the Stardust I prepared then prepared for his show. Yes, it was all that and more as Branscombe came out singing, “Attitude” pointing directly at me smiling looking right into my eyes. After the show ended I waited in line with all his other fans. Branscombe soon came back out giving each and every fan his undivided attention as he autographed his photos and took his picture with them.

When my turn came standing there in front of this giant of a man I held out to him a gift from B.B.F.H. Jet black T-shirt with broken heart on the corner chest crying tear drops as words surrounded the heart which stated, “I Rode To Bring Hope” Branscombe held B.B.F.H. gift openly admiring it gave special instructions to his helper not to lose it. He told me he would read B.B.F.H.’s information but not able to confirm if he would be able make it or not.

I found out later that he had intended on riding B.B.F.H. Poker run for support of the charity but had to fly out of town for commitments made by his manager.

I always made it to Branscombes shows in Vegas. He always had a smile, a hug and a gentle kiss for my cheek. He’s never lost that; he is real and concerned for biker rights and safety. He always has time listen, he always gives his all to us even when he’s dog tired or sick with the flu.

My hat’s off to you Branscombe you truly are a brother!
