Update – This event raised in excess of $4,000 in addtion to all of the Toys donated! Well done, guys.
Another GREAT Christmas for the residents of ‘The Garden’ homeless shelter as Houston area bikers turn out en masse to support the Ft. Bend Gypsy M/C annual Toy Run. The kids who are currently guests at The Garden may have had a rough year – but one thing is certain, they will have a really good Christmas thanks to all of the riders who took part in this Toy Run. From the youngest child you could see the look of amazement as they watch 20 or 30 of the club members walk in each carrying an armload of toys and gifts. Final numbers are not available but, speaking as one who stood beside the highway to take photographs, the bikes just kept coming and coming.
I was amazed at how many riders were at this event. The weather cooperated with an absolutely perfect day – 24 hours later it is cold, rainy and miserable. Gary’s Cycle Rescue provided cycle recovery support for this benefit run. You can always count on Gary being there whether its to support a benefit run, or helping you get your bike secured after a breakdown or an accident.
